WHY GET INTO BED WITH US?
WE LOVE OUR AUDIENCES, AND THEY COME BACK FOR MORE.
A good proportion of our audiences come at least twice in the same season.
Many more come back to return seasons or to our other shows.
Who are our audiences?
“...a high-octane, overly-charged show that defies many conventions of theatre”. – Ewen Coleman, DomPost
Everyday
adventurers
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
Groups of friends
or workmates
They enjoy dinner and a few drinks together, and like to try new things.
Sophisticated
comedy watchers
Those who enjoy shows like Boy with Tape on His Face, Monty Python, and The Mighty Boosh.
Under 25s
Enjoy the chopped up narrative contemporary gags, and pop culture.
We have two shows that can play in repertory:
Don Juan and Jekyll & Hyde. The shows are built to tour.
There are 7 on the road. Both shows use the same cast and tech set-up. We have minimal pack in and out needs, a small sound & lighting rider, and all of our sets, costumes and props travel in 6 suitcases which are also used as props.
"a style of theatre not ordinarily seen: playful, energetic, silly and spirited where having fun...is the main aim." – Dionne Christian, NZ Herald
"an absolute tour de force of modern theatre practice...No matter how dark you feel before you come, that darkness will disappear during this blackest, and sexiest of comedies" – Kathleen Mantel, Theatreview
We can play almost anywhere
Theatres, bars, clubs, schools, tents, large living rooms, even offices. We adapt the performance to suit the space. Audience sizes up to 250 work best so we can connect with everyone.
We are audience focused
The performers warmly invite the audience into the venue and gently warm them up to the experience. Strong improvising skills mean our performers read the room and the audience and pitch the interaction to suit. Even the most reluctant and dubious members of the audience are eventually charmed by the performers, and seduced into the collective experience.
The shows have universal themes
We have all been bad, and it’s OK: Jekyll & Hyde encourages us to take a look at our dark side, acknowledge its existence, laugh at its horror and embrace it.
We've all been fools for love: Don Juan allows us to laugh at the ridiculous things we do for love (and the things we wish we were brave enough to do).
Pop culture references are abundant, making it easy to relate to.
